Windlesham Course Forum

Another Year of Good Progress by the Agronomy Team at Windlesham Golf Club

Septembers Forum started with a brief introduction from Neil Dainton, General Manager, explaining that the purpose of this Forum was to communicate to the Membership this Winters proposed work. It was also mentioned that the club are currently in negotiations with machinery companies to replace the current fleet to continue developing the course in all aspects.

Leigh Powell, Golf Course Manager, then began to speak about a successful summer period and how the course conditioning was improving and will continue to do so over the coming seasons. He then commented on how his team completed several projects such as bunker improvement, buggy network completion of the front 9, car park/entrance tidy, ecology work, nearly doubling the size of the fairways and beginning to tackle the long rough.

Plans for the 2017/18 winter period weather permitting include, bunker reconstruction, blue tee construction, drainage work, woodland maintenance and continued aeration work to improve the surfaces.

Thank you to those who attended the Course Forum and we hope it was a useful insight into the hard work The Agronomy Team have put into the course over the summer season.

Chairman's Golf Day - Monday 22nd May 2017

The clubhouse was bathing in glorious sunshine as Windlesham Golf Club welcomed 68 eager golfers to the 8th Lumleys.net Chairman's Golf Day this year.

The purpose has always been to have fun and give everyone an opportunity to catch up with friends while playing golf and enjoying good company. The day starts with a particularly delicious light lunch and a cheeky beer to steady the nerves in preparation for some interesting golf.

The course was looking immaculate thanks to tremendous work the Agronomy Team who work all year around to ensure the course develops to its potential. There were many positive comments about the greens and fairways in particular. It is extraordinary to consider the transformation when we think back almost a quarter of a century since Windlesham was opened. The course looked and played fantastically well however the entertainment did not finish there.

Back at the 19th hole, drinks were enjoyed on the terrace looking out over the views of the course with the satisfaction of completing a good round of golf. This was followed by excellent cuisine and service from our chef and clubhouse team and the all important winners enclosure presentations.

1st Team Prize with 86 points were Dominic Enderby, Roger Brown, Peter Readers, and Ninian MacGregor. They all won a TaylorMade Golf Stand Bag.

2nd Team Prize with 84 was William Landale, Piers Inkin, Hugo Jacobs and Damien West. They all won a pair of Mizuno Golf Shoes.

Nearest The Pin - The winner was Mark Burnyeat, who very generously put his prize of a TaylorMade Wedge up for auction and raised £90 for The Windlesham Charity.

Longest Drive was won by Henry Davies, from the youth section who won a Callaway Golf Stand Bag.

Look forward to seeing you all again next year.

LANDLORD HUB DOUBLES PETERBOROUGH SPACE

The Lettings Hub has struck a deal to double its presence in Peterborough in a move to facilitate its "rapid expansion".

The business has agreed to a new lease for a further 2,488 sq ft on the first floor of the two-storey building. It already occupies 2,488 sq ft on the ground floor.

Chief executive Heidi Shackell said: "We are so proud of our journey so far and having a lovely building to expand and grow into is the icing on the cake for us.

"The deal was expedited quickly at our request and we pass on our thanks to both Savills and the landlord for making it happen on time and seamlessly."

Edward Gee, associate in the business space agency team at Savills Peterborough, added: "Situated in the well established Peterborough Business Park, Commerce Road offers good quality office accommodation in a well connected location. This is the ideal space for the Landlord Hub and we are pleased to have been able to accommodate its continued growth."
